Presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, alongside other cheiftains of the PDP have on Thursday, paid former President, Olusegun Obasanjo a visit.
Atiku, accompanied by Chairman of his Campaign Organisation, Gbenga Daniel, National Chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus, Liyel Imoke, Senator Ben Bruce and Ago Adebanjo were at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta to see the former President.
Obasanjo and Atiku’s feud has been previously well publicised with the Vice President recently claiming he has no issues with the former President but is not sure if he(Obasanjo) has issues with him.
Atiku’s role in stopping Obasanjo’s third term bid has been well flogged with insinuations making the rounds that both men had conflicts of opinions, leading to their sour relationship.
All those may be put to bed soon as it appears Obasanjo is ready to back Atiku in his 2019 Presidential bid.
Last week, the former President commented publicly at the Four Square Annual Public Summit about Nigeria’s need for an economy savvy President. Atiku headed the economic council during Obasanjo’s regime.
Recall that he has always expressed his displeasure with Buhari over the President’s perceived lack of ideas on moving the nation’s economy forward.
The details of the meeting between Obasanjo and Atiku will provide more information on the stance of the former President, believed to be one of the few statesmen Nigeria has.
