The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has received defectors from the All progressives Party (APC ) and other political parties at the flag-off of its political campaigns for next year’s general election.
At the flag off campaign which commenced on Monday, over 2000 individuals from different political parties including APC joined the PDP in Edo North Senatorial District.
The State’s party chairman, Chief Dan Orbih who received the defectors said the campaign flag off was to offer prayers to solicit God’s guidance and mercy for PDP to regain its leadership position in the country.
Orbih said “We are here to commit next year general elections into the hands of Almighty God because we have been informed that the APC has finalized all dubious arrangements to rig the elections.
“We are here to join our faith together and call on God to destroy every evil plan of APC to rig the elections.
Orbih added, “Nigerians have suffered enough in the hands of APC in the last three and half years and we are here to call on God to neutralise every of their plan to remain in power beyond May 2019”
Speaking further, the state chaiman lamented about the poor state of the country noting that the APC led government was to blame for it.
“We can no longer continued to be held hostage in our country by insecurity, we can not continue to remain in darkness, we cannot continue to remain in country where no single hospital is working while the president travel to Europe now and then to receive medical treatment while the hospital he came to commission in Benin City remain without doctors and equipment.
According to Orbih, Buhari’s incessant borrowing from other countries is affecting the country adversely.
“The APC led Federal government has borrowed so much that if they remain in power beyond 2019 every Nigerian will be slave to the Eastern world, including China and Korean as a result of the external borrowing being carried out by the Buhari led administration”.he said.
He further maintained that focusing on IDP camps is not the solution as Nigerians still feel the full brunt of APC’s ineffectiveness.
“Not only those in IDP camps need relief materials, all Nigerians need relief materials in their homes due to APC’s poverty,” he said.
