EFCC Arraigns Shehu Sani On Two-Count Charges

Former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani on Monday pleaded not guilty to two counts brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The anti-graft agency arraigned the ex-Senator at the Federal High Court in Abuja on a two-count charge bordering on bribery and advance fee fraud.

The Defendant’s counsel, A. Ibrahim, prayed to the court to grant his client bail after he pleaded not guilty.

On his part, the EFCC lead counsel said he was just served the bail application notice a while ago.

The presiding judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo thereafter stepped down the hearing of the bail application to 12 pm, to enable the prosecutor study the bail application.

Recall that Sani was arrested by the EFCC on December 31st for his alleged involvement in name dropping and extortion.

The complainant, Sani Dauda of ASD Motors claimed in his petition that the former senator demanded N4million from him to give to the CJN and other four judges to influence some pending cases in court.

The CJN has since denied any form of links with Sani.
