President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the sum of N13bn for the take-off of Community Policing in Nigeria.
Laolu Akande, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo revealed this in a tweet on Thursday.
“To drive his resolve to rejig the security architecture in the country & deliver a more effective policing, Mr. President has approved N13B for the take-off of Community Policing in the country.
“At today’s NEC meeting, VP asks Govs, SGF, Finance Minister & IGP to work out how the funds would be well utilized to ensure an effective implementation of Community Policing in Nigeria, and then report back to NEC.
“Specifically, the Govs would be represented at this consultations by the NGF chair & two others. There’s no relenting in securing our people,” Akande posted.
Recall that Buhari in May approved community policing and the decentralization of the Police as a way to improve security in Nigeria.
