Edo 2020: League Of Women Voters Urges Female Voters To Turn Out

The League of Women Voters of Nigeria (NILOWV) has called on all eligible female voters to come out and exercise their civic right to vote in the forthcoming governorship election in Edo State.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the President and Founder of the League, Rt. Hon. Esther Uduehi, PhD, urged all women to vote according to their conscience and not to accept money for their votes.

She also called for peaceful elections, saying that violence mars elections and does no one any good.

“I therefore appeal to you all to avoid any acts of violence. Please speak to your sons, daughters, wards and their associates not to engage in any disruptive or violent behavior during the elections,” she said.

“We do not wish to lose any child so we must all work together towards a peaceful and orderly conduct during the elections.

“The League of women voters of Nigeria will, as usual, send a team of observers to monitor the conduct of the elections.”

The governorship election is scheduled to hold on September 19, 2020.
