Jigawa and Bauchi States’ branches of the Nigerian Bar Association have threatened to boycott the association’s Virtual Conference if decision on Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai is not rescinded.
The NBA had invited El-Rufai as Guest Speaket at its conference but changed its plans and withdrew the governor’s name later.
While El Rufai said he accepts it in good fate, he also said he’s worried by the judgment that warranted the decision by the NBA.
In a show of disavowal with the decision, the Bauchi and Jigawa States branch of the NBA have threatened to boycott the conference.
The Jigawa chapter of the NBA stated on Friday through its Chairman, Garba Abubakar that it awaits a rescinding of the decision else it will not turn up at the conference.
In the same vein, the Bauchi chapter, in a statement signed by its chairman and secretary, Abubakar Abdulhamid-Bununu and Shamsudeen Magani respectively, described the NBA’s decision as unpopular, “which affects the hard-earned image and integrity of the Nigerian Bar Association as an impartial unpire”.
“Furthermore, failure to rescind its decision, the leadership of our noble branch has resolved unanimously an unequivocally to boycott the forthcoming NBA conference scheduled for this 2020,” the statement noted.
