Festus Alenkhe, a journalist and investigator with the Edo Broadcasting Service has earned plaudits for the way and manner he handled the rape and murder of Vera Omozuwa.
Olayiwola Afolabi, an attorney hailed Alenkhe’s steadfast spirit for being the first to report the case, and also praised him for following up on the case that shook Nigerians.
“I, Olayiwola Afolabi ESQ, wish to send my warm appreciation to an erudite journalist and investigator, Mr. Festus Alenkhe of the Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS) on the way and manner he followed up the story on the rape and murder of Miss Uwaila Vera Omozuwa, a 100 level Microbiology student of the University of Benin.
“Festus Alenkhe was the first journalist to arrive the scene of the incident at Ohovbe in Benin City and subsequently made the story public. Ever since the young Uwaila Omozuwa was killed, the erudite journalist has been giving frequent update on the incident from his news program and EBS TV programme “CRIME WATCH RELOADED” urging the Police to fish out the killers of the young undergraduate. Such move by Alenkhe deserves adequate APPRECIATION and commendation.

Omozuwa was reportedly raped and murdered in cold blood in a church in Benin City by unknown men. The culprits of the act are yet to be uncovered, months after the unfortunate incident, despite the public outcry that greeted the case.
