Nigeria on Sunday, August 2, 2020, recorded 304 new COVID-19 infections, which takes the total confirmed cases in the country to 43,841.
According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the fresh cases were recorded in 14 States and the Federal Capital Territory.
The Centre for Disease Control further disclosed that 5 persons died of COVID-19 complications while 222 persons recovered and were discharged from various isolation centres across the country on Sunday.
Giving a breakdown of the figure on a state-by-state basis, NCDC said Lagos State recorded 81 new infections, FCT-39 cases while Abia State reported 31.
Others are; Kaduna-24, Rivers-23, Plateau-16, Cross River-13, Ebonyi-12, Ondo-12, Ekiti-11, Edo-11, Benue-10, Nasarawa-10, Ogun-6 and Gombe-5.
NCDC’s latest report indicates a significant decline in the nation’s coronavirus cases compared to last week figures.
Currently, Nigeria’s COVID-19 cases stood at 43,841; 20,308 recoveries and 888 deaths.
