Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle has presented gold and other precious materials found in the state to President Muhammadu Buhari.
Matawalle, accompanied by Bashir Hadejia on Monday night presented the resources to the President at the State House, Abuja.
Nigeria has recently stepped up its mining of gold as the federal government pledged to place more focus on the refining of solid minerals.
The President launched a gold purchase programme in July with the CBN buying the first mined gold bar as it paid N268,608,236:00 for 12.5kg LBMA gold in favour of the Presidential Artisanal Gold Mining Development Initiative.
Zamfara has one of the largest gold deposits in Nigeria, and has been a hotspot for illegal miners before now.
