Sanusi Visits El-Rufai In Kaduna 5 Months After Dethronement As Emir Of Kano

Former Emir of Kano, HRH Muhammadu Sanusi II, on Sunday, visited Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, in Kaduna, five months after his dethronement by the Kano State Government.

The governor, in a tweet via his official Twitter handle, thanked Sanusi for making the state the first place he visited since his relocation to Lagos in March.

In his response, Sanusi was said to have thanked El-Rufai for being a friend “he can always count on.”

While hailing the governor for standing by him, the former emir promised to do his best as the Vice Chairman of Kaduna Investment Promotion Agency (KADIPA) and Chancellor of Kaduna State University (KASU).

“Malam Nasir @elrufai has welcomed HRH Muhammadu Sanusi II, and thanked him for making Kaduna the first place he is visiting since relocating to Lagos in March,” El-Rufai tweeted.

“HRH Sanusi told Malam Nasir @elrufai that he is grateful to have in him a friend he can always count on.

“He thanked the governor for standing by him and assured that he will do his best as Vice Chairman of @InvestKaduna and Chancellor of the Kaduna State University, KASU.”

Recall that the Kano State Executive Council unanimously approved the dethronement of Sanusi as the Emir of Kano on March 9, 2020.

He was subsequently banished to Awe, Nasarawa State, where El-Rufai visited him before both men left for Abuja. Sanusi later relocated to Lagos State.

The governor appointed him as the the Vice Chairman of KADIPA and Chancellor of KASU following his dethronement.
