Security operatives comprising men of the Nigerian Army, Department of State Services (DSS) and the Police have disrupted #RevolutionNow protests in Abuja.
The protesters were arrested at the Unity Fountain area of Abuja on their way from Mararaba, also in the Federal Capital Territory.
The protesters were whisked away in Police trucks in the area after security operatives had started a stop and search operation in some locations in the city. The operation, we gathered, was to identify protesters.
The conveners of the protest on Tuesday announced details of the mass action, including convergence points in 10 different states across the nation.
Omoyele Sowore, an activist and former Presidential candidate is the convener of the #RevolutionNow protest which he began in 2019.
Sowore was vocal against what he tagged “bad governance and corruption” by the Muhammadu Buhari administration.
He is however not participating in the protest march now, as a condition of his bail after he was detained for over four months before his release in December 2019.
