Nigeria Records 221 New COVID-19 Cases As Infections Toll 56,956, Deaths Now 1,094

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported 221 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19, in Nigeria.

In its daily update late Friday evening, NCDC disclosed that 213 recovered patients were discharged while a new fatality was recorded.

The centre said today’s discharges include 100 community recoveries managed in Oyo State in line with new case management guidelines.

17 states including the FCT reported new cases on Friday.

Lagos State recorded most cases with 59 followed by Abia State with 46.

Also, FCT recorded 22 new cases while Gombe State recorded 20.

Others are Plateau-17, Rivers-11, Bauchi-7, Benue-6, Ekiti-6, Imo-6, Kaduna-4, Kwara-4, Ondo-4, Ogun-3, Osun-3, Bayelsa-1, Edo-1, and Kano-1.

So far, Nigeria has recorded a total of 56,956 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

While 48,305 patients have recovered, 1,094 have lost their lives to the disease.
