Nigeria Records 239 New COVID-19 Cases As Pandemic Tolls 54,247, Deaths Now 1,023

Nigeria has recorded 239 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19.

This was disclosed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in its daily update late Tuesday night.

The centre reported that 372 patients were discharged following their recovery from the disease.

It also disclosed the death of 10 patients.

14 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) recorded new cases on Tuesday.

Again, Plateau recorded the day’s highest toll with 116 new infections followed by FCT with 33.

Others are Lagos(19), Ekiti (12), Kaduna (11), Ogun (11), Ebonyi (8), Benue (7), Abia (5), Delta (5), Ondo (4), Edo (3), Imo (2), Osun (2), and Bauchi (1).

Since the index case was confirmed on February 27, 2020, Nigeria has recorded 54,247 cases of the disease.

While 42,010 cases have been discharged after their recovery, a total of 1,023 fatalities have been recorded.

There are now 11,214 active cases of COVID-19 across Nigeria.
