Nigeria’s COVID-19 Cases Hit 58,062 With 213 New Infections, Deaths Now 1,103

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported 213 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19, in Nigeria.

There was an increase of 88 cases from the 125 reported on Thursday.

In its daily update late Friday evening, NCDC disclosed that 508 recovered patients were discharged while 2 new fatalities were recorded.

The centre noted that it erroneously reported 1 death in Bayelsa State on Wednesday, September 23, 2020.

It added that Friday’s cumulative discharged cases included 364 recovered patients in Katsina State who were managed in the community.

16 states including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) reported new cases.

Lagos and Plateau States recorded most new cases with 51 each followed by FCT with 29 new cases.

Others are Rivers (18), Ondo (12), Oyo (9), Osun (8), Gombe (7), Ogun (7), Kaduna (5), Enugu (4), Edo (3), Jigawa (3), Kano (3), Benue (1), Delta (1), and Sokoto (1).

So far, Nigeria has recorded a total of 58,062 cases of COVID-19.

While 49,606 patients have recovered, 1,103 have lost their lives to the disease.
