Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, says corps members who would participate as ad hoc staff in the Ondo State Governorship Election in October would be adequately protected.
The INEC Chairman made this known during the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security meeting held at the Conference Room of the INEC State Office in Akure, the state capital.
According to him, the success recorded during the recently held election in Edo State was an indication that the commission was improving on its operation.
He said, “The NYSC is one of our principal partners at ensuring that we have a credible, free, fair, and generally acceptable election and we shall do all things legally possible to make sure that their participation is not in any way jeopardised.”
The INEC boss also expressed the readiness of the commission to conduct another successful election in Ondo State, saying that all hands must remain on deck and leverage on the Edo experience.
