Two Bodies Recovered After Truck Plunges Into Epe River In Lagos

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) says two bodies have been recovered after a truck loaded with sand fell off the Berger bridge into the Epe river in Lagos State.

In a tweet on Saturday, LASEMA said the incident happened on Friday night.

“Upon arrival at the scene of the incident, it was discovered that a six-tyre truck loaded with sand fell into the river,” it tweeted.

A combined team of Agency responders, Marine Rescue Unit, Nigeria Police and Local Divers began a Search and Rescue operation in the early hours of Saturday.

In an update later in the day, LASEMA said the truck had been found along with bodies of two adult males.

“The six (6) Tyre Truck has been located and retrieved along with the bodies of two (2) adult males,” it tweeted.

“A combined team of Agency responders, Marine Rescue Unit, and Nigeria Police have concluded the operations.”
