Nigerian-born Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) superstar, Israel Adesanya, popularly known as ‘Last Stylebender,’ has defeated his Brazilian rival, Paulo Costa, to retain the middleweight championship in Abu Dhabi.
Adesanya beat Costa Sunday morning in a dominant defense of his middleweight title, winning by TKO in the second round in the main event of UFC 253.
The 31-year-old Nigerian-New Zealander who has now defended his 185-pound belt twice, punished Costa’s lead leg early.
The previously undefeated challenger (13-0-1), who was supposed to trouble Adesanya with his pressure and power, never really managed to close the distance.
Adesanya (20-0-0) left Costa in a heap of muscle and misery in the second round of their fight after dominating the fight in the lead-up to the stoppage.
Before Sunday’s fight, Adesanya had said the Brazilian wouldn’t be a problem.
He has now won 20 fights without any defeat in his record.
