COVID-19: Nigeria’s Cases Rise To 62,371 With 147 New Infections, Deaths Now 1,139

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported 147 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19, in Nigeria.

Wednesday’s figure brings the total number of COVID-19 cases in Nigeria to 62,371 from the 617,750 samples tested for the virus.

But according to the NCDC, 58,095 of them have recovered and been discharged. 179 of them were discharged on Wednesday.

The centre added that the discharges include 116 community recoveries in Lagos State managed in line with new case management guidelines.

However, with another four deaths reported, 1,139 deaths have been recorded so far.

11 states including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) reported new cases on Wednesday.

Lagos State recorded most new cases with 82 followed by the FCT with 20 new cases.

While Rivers State recorded 9 new cases, Kaduna and Plateau States recorded 8 new infections each.

Others are Benue (5), Edo (3), Kano (3), Nasarawa (3), Taraba (3), Ogun (2), and Bauchi (1).
