COVID-19: Nigeria’s Economy Too Fragile For Another Lockdown – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has said the nation must do everything within its power to avoid a second wave of COVID-19.

President Buhari stated this via his verified Twitter page on Thursday.

According to him, the nation’s economy is too fragile to bear another lockdown to curb the spread of the virus.

Buhari’s statement is coming after some European countries including Germany and France imposed another lockdown in their countries to curtail the spread of the deadly virus.

The Nigerian leader stressed that the nation must prevent such from happening and ensure cases of COVID-19 remain low.

“Looking at the trends in other countries, we must do all we can to avert a second wave of Covid-19 in Nigeria. We must make sure that our cases, which have gone down, do not rise again. Our economy is too fragile to bear another round of lockdown,” Buhari tweeted.

Recently, Nigeria has continued to record low COVID-19 infections as the total confirmed cases as of 28th of October, 2020, stood at 62,371 which included 58,095 recoveries and 1,139 deaths.
