Chelsea easily saw off their London rivals, Crystal Palace, in Saturday’s early kickoff game in the English Premier League.
The blues slotted four past Palace with goals from debutant, Ben Chilwell, Kurt Zouma, and Jorginho who dispatched two late penalties. Roy Hodgson’s side could not find a way past Chelsea’s solid defence.
Frank Lampard’s side endured a frustrating first 45 minutes that produced no goal but they came out flying in the second half.
Chilwell scored the first goal with a half volley inside the box in the 50th minute.
Zouma scored the Blues’ second goal in the 66th minute with a looping header from a Chilwell cross.
Chelsea soon found a third goal after Tammy Abraham was fouled in the Palace box. Jorginho stepped up to send Gaita the wrong way in the 78th minute.
The Italian soon netted a second in the 82nd minute with another penalty after Chelsea’s record signing, Kai Havertz, was fouled in the box.
Senegalese goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy, also made his premier league debut for Chelsea, earning a clean sheet.
Lampard’s side earned their second victory of the campaign. They have now earned 7 points from four games.
