Hoodlums on Thursday attacked the National Correctional Service Centre in Okitipupa, the headquarters of Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.
They reportedly released no fewer than 58 inmates during the attack.
The hoodlums were said to have set a vehicle on fire and destroyed several other items on the premises of the prison.
A police station was also reported to have been set ablaze.
The State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, had on Tuesday ordered a 24-hour curfew to end the ongoing #EndSARS protests in the state.
The jailbreak comes few days after hoodlums attacked two prisons in Edo State and also set prisoners free.
The State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has given the escapees until Friday to return to the prison.
