The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has fixed February 18 as date for the 2023 presidential election.
The commission’s chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, made the disclosure on Thursday, at the inauguration of the House of Representatives Committee on 1999 Constitution Review.
The INEC boss noted that the country is just about 855 days from the 2023 general election.
According to Yakubu, as is the tradition, the elections have to take place in the second week of February of each election year.
He urged the lawmakers to ensure a timely review of the 1999 constitution and the electoral act to help improve the country’s electoral process.
