The organising committee of the 3rd Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit has postponed the summit.
The summit had earlier been scheduled for November 6 – 7, 2020.
In a statement by Chairman of the Organising Committee, Dr. Badewa Adejugbe-Williams, the committee said the decision was made “in light of the current situation in the country.” The #EndSARS protests, which began peacefully, turned violent during the week as hoodlums hijacked the movement, leading to unrest in some parts of the country.
The committee promised that a new date for the summit would be announced as soon as possible.
“In the light of the current situation in the country, the OrganisingCommittee of the 3rd Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit regretfully informs the general public, in particular, all registered participants and invited guests, that this event has been postponed,” the statement said.
“A new date will be announced as soon as possible. Please stay tuned to our website: www.ndis.gov.ng for further updates.
“We join all well-meaning people in commiserating with all those injured and those who lost their properties, while praying for the peaceful repose of all who have died during the protests as well as for peace to reign in our beloved country.”
