Speaker of the Gombe State House of Assembly, Abubakar Sadiq Ibrahim Kurba has been impeached.
16 out of the 24 members of the House voted to impeach Kurba.
The proceeding that led to impeachment was presided over by Deputy Speaker, Siddi Buba, representing Kwami West constituency.
The lawmakers immediately elected a member representing the Akko Central constituency, Abubakar Muhammad Luggerewol, as the new speaker.
He was elected by the 15 members of the assembly and has been sworn-in.
Likewise, the House Leader, Samuel Marcus, representing Pero-Chonge constituency, was impeached and replaced with Yarima Ladan Gaule of Kaltungo East constituency.
