The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is currently interrogating a former chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Babatunde Fowler, over a N100 billion tax evasion allegations levelled against a tax firm, Alpha Beta Consulting.
A former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Consulting firm, Dapo Apara, in 2018 had accused Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) of tax fraud.
Fowler, who is Nigerian public officer, tax administrator and social reformer, responded to the invitation from the EFCC on Monday.
The EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed that Fowler was with the commission.
“Yes, Fowler responded to an invitation this morning. I believe he is still here,” he explained.
Uwujaren, however, did not comment on the investigation.
