Nigeria’s COVID-19 Cases Hit 63,036 With 72 New Infections, Deaths Now 1,147

Nigeria has now recorded a total of 63,036 cases of the novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19.

This was announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in its daily update on Monday night.

According to the centre, the tests of 72 suspected cases came back positive.

While 538 patients were discharged, 1 new fatality recorded.

The NCDC said the discharges on Monday included 460 community recoveries in Oyo State and 51 community recoveries in Lagos State managed in line with guidelines.

8 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) recorded the new cases.

Lagos recorded the highest new cases with 51, followed by FCT with 6 cases.

Others are Ogun (4), Kaduna (3), Niger (2), Ondo (2), Plateau (2), Katsina (1), Oyo (1).

So far, a total of 59,328 patients have been discharged following their recovery from COVID-19.

However, a total of 1,147 patients have lost their lives to the disease.

There are now 2,561 active cases across the country.
