Nigeria reached a new milestone on Wednesday as the nation’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic rages on.
According to the daily update by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the country has recorded over 100,000 recoveries from the deadly disease.
Specifically, at least 100,365 people have recovered from the novel coronavirus disease in Nigeria.
In the update, the NCDC also disclosed that the tests of 1,861 suspected cases came back positive.
While 1,089 patients were discharged, 22 new fatalities were recorded.
The NCDC noted that the discharges include 697 community recoveries in Lagos State, 128 in Rivers State, 116 in Plateau State, managed in line with guidelines.
21 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) recorded the new cases.
Lagos recorded the highest new cases with 773, followed by the FCT with 285 cases.
While Oyo State recorded 138 new infections, Rivers State recorded 111.
Others are from Plateau (92), Nasarawa (83), Kaduna (59), Enugu (57), Imo (57), Edo (43), Kano (27), Kwara (20), Ebonyi (19), Abia (17), Ogun (12), Osun (12), Katsina (8), Bayelsa (6), Bauchi (5), Delta (5), Borno (4), Jigawa (4), and Zamfara (1).
So far, 126,160 persons have contracted COVID-19 in Nigeria.
Out of that number, a total of 1,544 patients have lost their lives to the disease.
