Some beneficiaries of the Federal government N-Power Volunteer Corps programmes in Enugu State have expressed displeasure over nonpayment of five months salary.
N-Power Volunteer Corps is part of the Federal government’s Social Investment Programmes, SIP, under which it plans to hire, 500,000 unemployed graduates for a period of 2 years.
One of the beneficiaries, Benson Ugwuoke lamented that “after engaging in series of verifications, they were being rejected and neglected by the N-Power officials.”
In a peaceful protest Monday, they carried placards with inscriptions that depicts “hardship” “struggle” and “awful” experiences.
At the Enugu State Secretariat, N-Power beneficiaries were seen struggling for verification at the Economic Planning Commission’s Office.
Meanwhile, Executive Secretary, Enugu State Economic Planning Commission, Mr. Dan Onyishi told Radio Nigeria Enugu that the delay in payment was caused by irregularities in profiles of affected beneficiaries.
“They will be paid once rectified” he added.
