Convener of Pro-Democracy group known as ‘Concerned Nigerians’, Deji Adeyanju has been threatened by Nigerian security agents over the planned #SayNoToSecretTrial rally in support of Nnamdi Kanu.
Recall that the group had announced on micro blogging site, Twitter that it would stage a protest on Friday, April 21 in support of the Biafran leader.
However, barely 24 hours after the announcement was made, the convener of the group, Adeyanju was invited by the Abuja Commissioner of Police.
Adeyanju, a former Director of New media of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), disclosed the details of the meeting on Twitter.
The former PDP member wrote: “Invited by Commissioner of @PoliceNG FCT just now over Nnamdi Kanu rally. Entering his office now.
“Just got out of a 1-hour meeting with Commissioner of Police of FCT. In attendance was a Director of DSS and Brigade Commander of the Army.
“They said there’s security concerns over our rallies:

I asked what concern: No Answer.

Kanu, a political activist based in United Kingdom and Director of London based Radio Biafra, was arrested in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria on October 14, 2015, by the Department of States Services (DSS) on conspiracy and terrorism charges that were later changed to treason under President Buhari’s watch and has been held in prison since then despite various court orders that ruled for his release.
The Biafran leader alongside his co-accused, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi are facing six count charge of treasonable felony brought against them by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Although they have been granted bail twice by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, the federal government has refused to obey the court orders, raising doubts over the possibility of Mr. Kanu and his co-accused regaining freedom anytime soon.
