The release party for Ade Bantu’s latest album, “Agberos International” is set to hold on Sunday, August 6.
The musical event will take place at the Waterside Ikoyi, Westwood Hotel, 22 Awolowo Road, Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city at 5pm.
To celebrate the album release, the 13-piece band will be performing an inclusive live set for all their fans and supporters at their album release party
Unlike other album release parties by various musicians in the country with gate fees, Bantu has thrown the gate open for all his fans to have a feel of the much awaited album for free.
Meanwhile, the name BANTU comes from the middle name of the late, great Steve Biko; it is also an acronym: Brotherhood Alliance Navigating Towards Unity.
Though now a 13-man band, BANTU began as a group of four young men then living in Germany. Ade Bantu, Abiodun, Amaechi and Patrice.
In 1996, the band released its first song ‘No Vernacular (Humber Version)’. An album, Fufu, followed, two of its singles ‘Nzogbu’ and ‘Fire Inna Dancehall’ becoming hits in Nigeria, home country of three of the group’s members.
