Ajax Wraps Up Stellar Season With Dutch Double

Dutch giants, Ajax Amsterdam wrapped up what has been a very good season with a league triumph after thrashing De Graafschap 4-1 away from home.

It is Ajax’s first league trophy since 2014 and it also ensured they won their second trophy of the season after earlier winning the KNVB Cup in the month.

Goals from Tagliafico and Schone plus a Dusan Tadic double got Ajax clear of PSV Eindhoven who stood neck-to-neck with the champions on 83 points, 3 points less than the now 34-time champion’s 86 points tally.

Ajax however face an uphill task in keeping most of their regulars with star midfielder, Frenkie De Jong set for a €75million Barcelona move. Hakim Ziyech, Van Der Beek, Tagliafico, Junior Neres and Matthias De Ligt are some of the stars attracting interests from Europe’s elite teams.

The 5-time European champions must have felt hard done by when Tottenham knocked them out of the Champions League after a beautiful run. However, the team has shown its developmental strides and may be set to build again.
