ANAN Seeks Partnership With NIDCOM

Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) is seeking partnership with Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) for the establishment of branches in some countries abroad.

ANAN’s Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Musa Muhammed made this known during the association’s visit to NiDCOM’s Chairman/CEO, Abike Dabiri-Erewa in Abuja.

Muhammed explained that the impact of the professional body will be felt more if branches are established outside the shores of Nigeria.

He added that the association has already contacted a professional accountant who is also a fellow in USA, the person will be helping in setting up a branch in the US.

ANAN CEO said, “But it is wise for us to discuss with NiDCOM to use your good office to achieve this purpose based on the law of USA, the law of Nigeria especiallyon the law of the ANAN branch opening.”

According to him, the aim was not just to open a branch in the US, the body hopes that NiDCOM gives it the enablement to establish offices in other parts of the world.

Muhammed appreciated the prompt response of NiDCOM to issues that concern Nigerians all over the world, he therefore encouraged the Commission to keep up the good work.

Dabiri-Erewa, who was represented by the NiDCOM’s Secretary, Dr. Sule Bassi in response, assured the association of maximum support in actualising its purpose.

Bassi who said NiDCOM is set up primarily to meaningfully engage over 17million Nigerians living abroad, stated that the Commission will be happy to collaborate with ANAN provided the branches, if established, positively impact the Nigeria economy.

While commending the success of ANAN so far, Bassi urged the association to key in to NiDCOM’s programmes like the National Diaspora Day, Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit and ensure members actively participate.

A six-man committee was constituted to work out the modalities for ANAN-NiDCOM partnership.

ANAN is a professional body of Accountants registered by ACT 76 of the 1973 law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria saddled with the responsibility to advance the science of accounting in Nigeria.
