The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has nullified the election of Mohammed Sani Musa who was declared the winner of the Niger East senatorial district election on the platform of the APC.
The judgment, which was read by Justice Stephen Adah declared David Umaru as the senator-elect for Niger East senatorial district and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a Certificate of Return to Umaru.
Reacting to the judgment, Musa said in a statement that he would reclaim his mandate at the Supreme Court.
“The appeal court ruling cannot stand; it is a miscarriage of justice and a complete aberration to what justice entails.
“I have no doubt in my mind that the apex court in the land will right the wrong temporarily was done to my mandate by the lower court.
“There is no cause for alarm, as I fittingly won the APC primary election conducted for the senatorial district,” Musa said.
