BREAKING: SARAKI APPEARS BEFORE SENATE COMMITTEE ON ETHICS OVER N298M JEEP

Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has appeared before the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges over the seizure of N298 million sport utility vehicle (SUV) belonging to the senate.
Recall that the sport utility vehicle (SUV) was impounded in January by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) after discovering that the documents used in clearing it were forged.
The Upper Legislative Chamber had last week directed its Committee on Ethics and Privileges to probe the Senate President on the development.
The issue however garnered momentum following what was described as the refusal of Mr. Saraki to pay the Customs duties on the vehicle.
There have been allegations that the clash between the Red Chambers and the comptroller-general of customs, Hameed Ali is as a result of the action of the agency.
Meanwhile, Mr. Saraki claims the jeep belongs to the Nigerian Senate, putting to rest media reports that the vehicle belongs to him.
