The Super Falcons of Nigeria have won the African Women Cup of Nations for a record eleventh time(9 times if the first two tournaments without hosts will be excluded) after beating South Africa’s Bayana Bayana on penalties.
The Falcons were out for a revenge against the South Africans having lost their opening game by a lone goal to the younger Bayana Bayana team.
It was a stalemate that lasted 120 minutes as both teams fired bkans throughout the encounter before going into penalties which the Falcons 4-3.
Each player was promised $10,000 by NFF President, Amaju Pinnick each if they emerge victorious.
Both teams will represent Africa at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
