The co-founder and director of BudgIT, Seun Onigbinde has bagged a federal government job.
Onigbinde, a vocal critic of the Muhammadu Buhari administration got the appointment as a Technical Adviser at the Ministry of of Budget and National Planning.
The data analyst deactivated his Twitter account, shortly after announcing his new appointment.
”Friends, I have accepted to take up an advisory role underwritten by an international development agency for an initial period of six months . I believe that to guard the reputation of BudgIT, I need to take an operational break and make my new position public,” he wrote.
“In a technical advisory role, I shall be supporting the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Agba, along the issues of budget reform, development planning, and revenue growth.
“It is similar to a task Joseph Agunbiade (my BudgIT co-founder) and I worked on in 2013–14, under the DFID-FEPAR program for the National Assembly Budget and Research Office.”
Onigbinde’s appointment has been reacted to in different ways by Nigerians as some have criticised him for accepting an appointment in the government of a man he often criticises.
Seun Onigbinde, you are singing in another tune now? Do you now love mediocrity? Seems you are now a closet ethnic jingoist..you hate Nigeria now? Whayasay?
Those guys you called e-rats fought against all odds to keep this govt in power so that your likes can hold that card.. pic.twitter.com/x16ES2Bdw4

Seun Onigbinde has been appointed TA to the Ministry of Budget. Seun has only one area of expertise. Its the Nigerian budget. We all know that.
Now he is in a position to influence it. https://t.co/Vqj4lxppxP

Seun Onigbinde criticized the Buhari govt. He has now been appointed to help fix some of his criticisms.
That he accepted the appointment does not warrant criticism/abuse.
If he fails to solve what he criticized is when you should call him out.

I plead with my people here to let Seun Onigbinde be and settle down to perform his role. I’m not asking that his hypocrisy shouldn’t be called out but I even want more of them to get roles so they can realize that criticism is the easiest job on the face of this earth

Seun Onigbinde spent the past few years criticizing Buhari’s inept Govt & holding many other Govt parastatals accountable via @BudgITng. He has been invited to fix what he has always criticized & y’all think he is better off as an arm chair critic? Allow the man to do his job!

All of you people shouting about Seun Onigbinde, if my MCM @ProfOsinbajo calls me I will MOVE o! 😂😂😂
Meanwhile, congrats to Seun. And well done to the Minister of Budget & Planning who picked a competent critic.
As long as Nigeria wins, I’m happy.

Dear @ZShamsuna, the appointment of Seun Onigbinde as your adviser is rather unfortunate. He worked against the re-election of PMB during the last election. Pls see below exerpts of some of his tweets. I suggest you consider another person pls.@Ayourb@jeffphilips1@Zahrahmusa pic.twitter.com/4dy2AcQCfC

“I am pleased that Seun Onigbinde has been given an appointment by the Federal Govt. When I tell young people not to be too extreme, they abuse me as “Fencist.” In 2015, you are all in for Buhari. 2019, you are all in against Buhari. Your country is bigger than Buhari. Think am o,” he tweeted.
