Renowned Kenyan legal scholar and former director of the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission, Professor Patrick Loch Otieno Lumumba has disclosed that Nigeria’s president, Mohammadu Buhari is surrounded by corrupt individuals.
Lumumba disclosed this to SaharaReporters, adding that Buhari is alone in the fight against corruption in Nigeria.
He revealed that this is so because many high-profile public office holders and officials are corrupt. He stated this as one of the reasons for the little or no success in intended results of the anti-corruption campaign.
His words: “What President Buhari must do is to recruit the population. If the population has been wedded to the idea that corruption is a bad thing, then that is the beginning of the success of that battle”.
He also urged that the administration of President Buhari introduce stricter punishments for those found guilty of corruption.
Lumumba is an eloquent lawyer who holds a Doctorate degree in Laws of the sea from the University of Ghent in Belgium. He is also a Pan-Africanist and has delivered several powerful speeches alluding to or about African solutions to African problems.
