Chaplain Evicted By Gov. Ambode Gets Free Furnished Apartment


The presiding chaplain of the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Lagos State, Venerable Femi Taiwo who was evicted by the state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has been blessed with a fully furnished apartment.

Taiwo got the sack on Monday, May 15, without any query or official reason stated in the sack letter, The PUNCH newspaper reports.

The report by PUNCH also said Mr. Taiwo was ordered out of his official quarters where he lived with his wife and two children within 24 hours of receiving the letter despite pleadings from church leaders and other reputable elders in the church.

According to the report, some of the church members reportedly contributed money to buy gas cooker, and other household items for Taiwo’s family as they vacated the vicarage.

The presiding chaplain was reported to have angered the First Lady of Lagos state, Bolanle Ambode, who had visited the chapel on Sunday, May 14, when the church held an anointing service.

However barely 48 hours after the news of his sack broke, Mr. Taiwo has settled into a new and furnished accommodation provided by members of his congregation.

Speaking with PUNCH, Taiwo said he got five offers of apartment from different members of the African church congregation.

A source disclosed that church members who were angered and touched by the way the priest was treated decided to help the cleric and his family.

“Apart from the apartment he moved to, he got four offers of apartment from different members of the African church congregation,” the source said.
