Borno State Government has on Thursday directed the immediate fumigation of all Banking halls, strong Rooms and ATM Machines as part of its precautionary measures against the dreaded Corona Virus Pandemic.
Borno State is the worst hit by the decade-long Boko Haram insurgency with huge number of IDPs but has no corona virus case report yet .
However, the state government is not ready to take chances as it’s taking precautionary measures to safeguard the lives of its people.
In a Press statement issued and signed from the office of the Deputy Governor, Hon. Umar Usman Kadafur who doubles as the Chairman of the Response Team for the Prevention of Corona Virus in the state stated that the fumigation will include other facilities within Bank premises.
Accordiing to the Statement ” The State Chairman , High Powered Response Team for the Prevention of Corona Virus has directed the Immidiate fumigation of all banking halls, Strong Rooms, ATMs and other facilities within banks premises.”
Also, the Borno State Environmental Protection Agency ( BOSEPA ) have been mandated to fumigate banking halls and it’s environs twice a week while all Banks were request to cooperate with officials of BOSEPA to ensure a smooth excercise.
“The release futher directed BOSEPA to handle the services of disinfecting the back halls and it’s environs twice a week for the period of the pandemic, in addition, the provision of germicide chemicals for routine cleaning and mopping of the bank and it’s facilities.
“The banks are futher directed to provide hand washing points at entrance gates and all ATM points as measures to prevent the spread Covid 19 disease ” the statement conveyed .
