Seven out of twelve councillors in Governor Godwin Obaseki’s Oredo Local Government Area have pledged their support for governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
According to the councillors from Oredo, they were elected on the platform of the APC but had not been able to deliver on the electoral promises they made to members of their wards.
The expressed hope that, Ize-Iyamu, being a “grassroots politician” would create the enabling environment for them to perform.
The development comes just hours after State Director of the Obaseki-Shaibu Movement (OSM), Okoudoh Patrick Iyoha, resigned as a member of the Edo State Management Board.
According to him, his resignation is due to personal reasons.
On Monday, three Oil and Gas Commissioners also resigned their appointment to join the Ize-Iyamu train.
Obaseki, who’s the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will face the APC candidate and 13 others in the September 19, 2020, governorship election.
