The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has lifted the ban on campaigns by political parties ahead of Saturday, February 23rd Presidential election and National Assembly elections.
INEC, in a statement by Festus Okoye, the Commission’s National Commissioner, Information and Voter Education Committee said parties can continue their campaigns until 48 hours before the election day as stipulated in the Electoral act.
INEC also assured that it has worked out modalities on ensuring the election is conducted and is hitch-free.
The commission said it reached the decision on campaigns after consulting with political parties in the country.
It said campaigns can be held until midnight of Thursday, February 21st.
