Former Barcelona winger, Emmanuel Amuneke has been appointed the new coach of Suadanese league side, Al-Khartoum Watani.
The former flying Eagles coach who holds a UEFA-A coaching license from the famous Barcelona academy, La Masia was unveiled on Tuesday in preparation for the new season. The 1994 African Footballer of the Year winner penned a 2-year deal for the East African team.
In a chat with Complete Sports, the former Super Eagles winger disclosed that his target is to help the team attain title glory and break the domineering powers of the giants in the league:
“Yes I have been appointed,” Amuneke affirmed.
“It’s a challenge for me and I believe my wealth of experience as a player and a coach will help the team.
“The target is a herculean one but we will try as much as we can to break the dominance of Al Merreikh and Al Hilal, who between them have won every league title since 1970 except in 1992,” he concluded.
Amuneke lead the Golden Eaglets to win the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile two years after assisting Manu Garba to a title-winning outing in the 2013 edition in the United Arab Emirates.
He is expected to help the Sudanese outfit to the continent to play in the CAF Champions League or the CAF Confederations Cup.
