Employers, Employees And The Social Media Rant By Philips Sunday

I hardly write on Facebook but today the social media platform asked me what was in my mind.
.
.

And then I answered: “Do you really want to know?”
.
.

Okay here it goes:…………………

I have seen a lot of complaints and grievances expressed on social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram et al) by some employees or will I say ‘those who worked with a particular company before they pathing ways”.

.
.
.

I have also seen some employers/ companies try to justify their (good, bad or ugly) actions .
.
.
Well for now I will not talk much about the ’employers’ because I am not one but I will talk about the ’employees’.
.
.
.
As an employee (you get an employment from a particular company) you are excited at first, you give your best and all to see the progress of the company, you sometimes multitask because of your versatility all to see the company’s growth, at the end there is a fallout in your working relationship with your employer, you leave (resign), or you are (sacked) or you just (walk away with anger).
.
.
.

Now you come on social media to vent your anger or rant about how bad the organization was or how wicked your former employer was or how bad you were treated by your former employer/ company.

.
.
Like seriously? do you need this? (Please take a minute to ask yourself this question) and also remember some of the good memories you had while with that organization.
.
.
Yes the average man is naturally stingy (in the sense that some of your entitlements might not be given to you by your employer) before you leave. (Citing the wrongful dismissal of some staff of two major media houses (One print media and the other broadcast media) in Nigeria between April and June 2017) without the companies paying the full entitlements of the dismissed staff.
.
.
But must you come on social media to say how bad these people (former employers) are or were? some even mention names of the (employers / companies).

If you ask me I will say you don’t need this, seriously because doing this is like telling your former employer that you made a mistake leaving (when you resigned) or they made a mistake sacking you (which most times is not the case), you left because you felt (cheated) or sometimes felt it was time to leave or you were sacked because they (employer/ company) felt it was necessary.
.
.
.
BIG QUESTION:

As an employer, ask yourself a question (what have my former workers said about me since they left) ‘good or bad’?.

As an employee, ask yourself a question (how is my former company fairing without me and what is my former employer saying about me) ‘good or bad’?.
.
.

WHY YOU MUST STOP THE SOCIAL MEDIA RANT:

Now as an employee will you dust off your anger, throw away your grudges and move on to something better?
.
.
YES, you heard me right just move on. As an employee if you were (cheated) just leave the case to God and move on, social media can only complicate issues its never going to solve them.

As an employer, have a peaceful relationship with all your workers don’t allow anyone leave your company in anger, you might not see anything wrong with it but trust me ‘we are in a small world’ every action counts.
.
.
.
Hope we (employers and employees) can learn from this article and do the needful.
