Arsenal defeated Napoli 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium in the first leg quarter-final of the Europa League on Thursday Night.
The Gunners took a first-half lead through Aaron Ramsey and Lucas Torreira as the London club set themselves in a better position for the next stage of the competition.
However, another London Club, Chelsea Struggled away from home against Czech Republic side Slavia Prague as Marcos Alonso lone goal gave the Blues needed away win.
Speaking after the match, Gunners boss, Unai Emery disclosed his side still have lots of work to do earn their progression into the next round.
According to him; “The first leg was very important to take a good result,” said Emery. “We deserved to win, but we know it is going to be very difficult there.
“Their performances at home are usually very strong. We will plan to win the match, but we need to have a lot of respect for them. It is still 50-50. Our challenge is to be competitive away. Sometimes away we lose the spirit we have at home.”
Meanwhile, Napoli coach Carlos Ancelotti said he is still “confident” of progressing to the last four.
“The result is difficult to change but we have 90 minutes left.”
Moreso, Chelsea manager, Mauricio Sarri seems to be pleased with his team’s performance against Slavia Prague.
He said; “In the past, we were not able to suffer in the difficult moments of a match, Now we are able to stay in trouble and suffer without conceding.”
Chelsea is in a better position to progress to the next round of the competition ahead of their opponent with an away goal advantage.
The Blues host their opponent in the return leg at Stamford Bridge next week Thursday.
