A former lover of Zainab Yahaya, the new wife of Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Hameed Ali, has demanded the refund of a sum of N9, 081, 207, being money spent on her while they were together as lovers.
In a court document dated May 22, 2020, and seen by ALEDEH News, Zubairu Dalhatu Malamai, who claimed to be Yahaya’s fiancee before she left him, threatened legal action if he’s not refunded the sum.
Through his attorneys, he accused her of a breach of trust after she had “consistently promised to marry him.”
Malamai claimed that the relationship lasted for over three years and he “invested so much” into Ali’s new wife.
“Be that as it may, we have our client’s brief that you have decided to pick another man for yourself as husband and while our client congratulate you in your new home, we have our client instructions to also disclose his displeasure over your reaction few days before your new marriage by taking an unnecessary fight with him thereby insulting him and calling him all kinds of names and your claims that he calculate all you have collected from him both as loans, investments and trips ticket so you can pay him as you are no longer in his life affairs,” the document reads.
Malamai said, in the view of her claim, he has decided to demand the sum of N2, 778, 207 being sum of travel tickets he bought for her while they were together. They involve trips to Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and the United kingdom.
The ex-lover, who listed other expenses he wants refunded, also asked her to return company ID cards, two laptops, company uniform, a pair of shoe, one set of luggage (5 pieces), one piece of Samsonite Luggage, car plate number bearing Bichi Local Government.
Ali wedded Yahaya last Saturday, May 30, 2020, in a ceremony.
The marriage came two years after his first wife, Hajiya Hadiza Jummai Ali, died in Abuja on October 29, 2018. The Customs boss had four children with his first wife.
