An explosion in a Port-Harcourt mall has left five people with serious injuries.
Spokesman of Rivers state police command, Nnamdi Omoni confirmed the incident via a statement.
He said the cause of the explosion which occurred at the bakery area of the mall is yet to be gotten as at the time he made the statement.
Rumours are also making the rounds about the death of one person from the explosion.
Fire fighters were said to have arrived the scene not long after some workers had battled and put out the inferno.
The mall is situated at the old GRA Road, Port Harcourt and is a few minutes away from the Rivers State Government House.
Omoni said those injured are currently receiving treatment at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH).
He added that the police have commenced full investigation into the incident
