Fake News Alert: ”Nigerian Coaches Did Not Demand Money From Me” – David Alaba

Bayern Munich defender, David Olatokunbo Alaba has said Nigerian coaches never asked him for money to play for the U-17 national team.

Several Nigerian news outlets (ALEDEH excluded) had reported that Alaba refused to pay Nigerian coaches to represent the country’s cadet team in the 2007 U-17 World Cup and vowed never to represent the country.

Alaba, while speaking to Omasports’ Oma Akatugba said it is an unfounded news and that he never told anyone Nigerian coaches demanded money from him to play for the team.

”No! They didn’t demand money from me. I never said that. It’s fake news,” Alaba said.

Alaba, born to a Nigerian father and a Phillipino mother was born in Austria and represents the Austrian national team.
