Nigerian musician Folarin Falana popularly known as Falz has reacted to the ban of his song, “This is Nigeria”, by the National Broadcasting Commission.
Nigeria’s integrated online media platform, ALEDEH had reported earlier that the NBC allegedly banned ‘This is Nigeria’.
This was disclosed in a letter from the NBC dated 6th August 2018 allegedly written by NBC zonal office in Jos to a media organisation in the zone and by signed its Zonal Director, Igomu Onoja.
According to NBC, a part of the song – “This is Nigeria; look how we living now everybody be criminal” has been tagged “vulgar” and the song is now declared “unfit for radio”.
The NBC also allegedly banned Wande Cole’s song: ‘Iskaba’ alongside Olamide’s ‘See Mary, See Jesus’
Reacting to the development, Falz took to Instagram to share a picture of the letter allegedly written by NBC zonal office in Jos to a media organisation in the zone, fining it for playing certain songs, including Falz’s.
He captioned the social media post: “This is Nigeria. Look how we living now, everybody be criminal” is apparently a vulgar line”.
