Over 200 pupils were on Wednesday presented with school items which included uniforms, socks, sandals, underpants, vests and writing materials at the ‘Dress A Child’ event held at Akoka Primary School, Akoka-Yaba, by a Non-Governmental Charity Foundation, NobleHeart Children Foundation (NHCF), in the wake of Children’s Day 2017 celebration.

According to the President of the foundation, Hajia Mar’yam Thaoban, the event was organised to commemorate children’s day 2017 with the less-privileged children by making them feel loved and cared for in the society.

She said,  “the need to make indigent children feel special and cared for is paramount to us at NobleHeart Children Foundation, and we saw a more important need to provide uniforms and other school items to pupils of Akoka Primary school after witnessing some of them go to school in tatters.”

“Approximately 50 uniforms were given to the already-registered-students, and 50 pairs of sandals were distributed to pupils in dire need of them. Over 250 school socks and over 200 underpants and vests were also distributed amongst the pupils indiscriminately. Books and other writing materials were further given to over 150 of the pupils and the school was presented with a packet of whiteboard marker.” she revealed.

“Glory be to God Almighty for the success of the event, and my heart-felt gratitude to a wonderful team whose spirit of charity kept us working. I extend warm appreciation to our sponsors, home and abroad for their donations and to our supporters, partners and well-wishers, towards the success of this program.” Hajia Thaoban added.

She further revealed by saying “Our greatest achievement was not the uniforms or other items given to the kids, but the smiles we earned from them. I was very happy seeing wide smiles on their faces as they received their new uniforms and other school items. And I felt fulfilled because their joy is what we set out to achieve and we did.”
