Headline inflation for February was moderated to 11.31% in February from 11.37% year-on-year (YoY) in January.
February’s Year on Year (YoY) food inflation also dropped to 13.47% from (13.61% in Jan 2019).
Core inflation for February also dropped to 9.80% from 9.90% Year on Year in January 2019.
Headline inflation month-on-month (MoM)dropped to 0.73% in February from 0.74%. Food sub-index moderated from 0.83% in January to 0.82% (MoM) in February.
Core inflation dropped from 0.81% in January to 0.65% MoM in February.
Urban index dropped from 11.66% in January to 11.59% February YoY. There was a marginal decrease from 0.77% in January to 0.76% MoM in February.
Rural index dropped from 11.11% in January YoY to 11.05% in February, indicative of a reduced cost of living in rural areas. The figure didn’t change from January’s 0.71% MoM.
The consumer protection index is used to measure the date of inflation or the average change in prices of goods and services consumed by people on a day-to-day basis.
